Learn how to create your own 5 LED flashbar for very little money. You can even find in this article the link to my MajorFrenchy 5 LED board Gerber file that will allow you to get the circuit board printed.
What is a flash bar?
It is 5 RGB ( Red-Green-Blue) led and they are connected to a Virtual Pinball control board.
( Look at the controller board list). The Lights turn on and off according to the table script.
Here are the parts you will need!
- 5 LED 1W RGB lights ( There are many different models and types )
- Power source for your LED ( you will need some resistors depending on the power voltage. )
- Plastic transparent Dome
- Wires 22GA is fine
- Virtual pinball controller ( KL25Z, Ledwiz, Pinscape, Rigmaster etc.... )
Get a piece of wood or metal fitting the width of your cabinet. space out and mark where your lights are going to be. Drill a small hole in the middle to fish the wires.
Wire your LED, I made a video awhile back showing you how to do this.
If you want to use one of my 5 LED board, you can download the zip file and send the Gerber file to a circuit board maker like https://jlcpcb.com/ and you can import my zip file and get the board printed. This will allow you to connect any LED ( 1v to 12V ) and not to worry about blowing it. The output makes it easy to connect to the controller board.
Testing the RGB connections
You want to test your skills try the Thinkercad Lab i created for you . It is called RGB Led connection. ( This does not work really well on Mobile )
Each colour will connect to a single port of your virtual pinball controller board ( ie Pinscape, ledwiz )
The power can be 3 or 5 or 12 volts, but you will need a resistor matching the value of your power.
The Arduino is just a simulation. This would be your Ledwiz or Kl25z.
